IPL Photofacial

by Dora Peters on 09/11/14

IPL is an advanced technology that enables us to treat the following skin imperfections safely, easily and effectively.  Your face, neck, chest, hands, and arms can be treated with IPL to combat the effects of aging and damaged skin in a gentler and softer way.  This selective pulsed light energy is absorbed by the target area without damaging healthy skin.

You will have a more glowing, even-toned skin, and the following conditions will improve:

· Hyperpigmentation

· Brown Spots

· Melasma

· Age spots

· Rosacea

· Dialated capillaries

· Acne and Acne scars can be reduced

· The statapulse IPL technology used at  dpEsthetics will effectively remove and reduce unwanted hair as well.

How  many treatments does it take?

Most patients respond well to 3-5 sessions spaced at 3 week intervals.  To maintain results, patients may opt for follow-up treatments.

Side Effects:

Patients may experience skin redness, peeling, swelling or itching following treatment. These side effects usually last no more than a few days.

Post Treatment:

Patients should avoid direct sun exposure to the treated areas and wear a sun block with SPF50 or greater for a minimum 14 days following treatment. Patients receiving permanent hair reduction of the axillary regions should avoid using deodorants or shaving for 2 days following treatment.

Who is not a Candidate for Intense Pulsed Light Therapy?

Patients who are tanned, pregnant, have skin cancer, or take drugs that increase skin’s sensitivity to light (such as Accutane) should not receive intense pulsed light therapy. Dark skinned patients must be carefully evaluated by the clinician before treatment, as darker skin types have a greater risk of side effects from IPL.  Typically, Fitzpatrick skin colors 4 and 5 are not candidates for IPL.
